Humourous Scotland Proudly Banjoing Terrorists Since 2007
When everyday joe's like baggage handler John Smeaton, holiday makers Stephen Clarkson and Michael Kerr and taxi driver Alex Mcllveen assisted police in restraining two terrorists at Glasgow airport in 2007, their courageous actions reverberated around the world. Ignoring the fact that the terrorists were throwing around petrol bombs and punches these national heroes intervened and in Mr Smeaton's own words: 'banjoed one of them'. To consider that these members of public were untrained in dealing with emergency situations like this is one thing, but to involve themselves with complete disregard for their own safety is another. For all the humour that has been found in an otherwise worrying time, these guys have set an example and let's hope they are recognised for their efforts.
